Dr George Kassianos CBE

National Immunisation Lead RCGP, President British Global & Travel Health Association

Dr George Kassianos has been the National Immunisation Lead for the RCGP since 1996. He is President of the British Global & Travel Health Association and Fellow of the Faculty of Travel Medicine RCPS Glasgow and The International Society of Travel Medicine. He chairs the Pan- European Group on influenza RAISE (Raise Awareness of Influenza Strategies in Europe – 20 European countries and Israel) and is Board Member of the European Working Group on Influenza (ESWI). In 2021, Her Majesty the Queen awarded Dr Kassianos the CBE (Commander of the British Empire) for services to Primary Care and Travel medicine.

Dr Catherine Heffernan

Dr Catherine Heffernan is currently SWL Public Health Consultant at the Southwest London Integrated Care System and Director of Health Improvement at SWL ICB.  She’s also a visiting senior lecturer at King’s College London.  She has over 15 years’ experience working on immunisations, including 9 years as Principal Public Health Advisor for Early Years, Immunisations and Vaccination Services at Public Health England and NHS England (London Region).   She has also published widely on improving vaccine uptake and coverage.

Esther Kuria

Esther Kuria is a nurse, midwife, sonographer, accredited advanced nurse practitioner and independent prescriber with 30 years’ experience in Nursing of which 15 have been in Women’s Health. Esther’s current position of Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist Gynaecology Oncology allows her the opportunity to organise & lead a team of clinical staff whose responsibilities include development and implementation of patient care pathways. Esther is a clinical educator & an alumni of the NHS Leadership Academy Esther sits in the Women’s Health Forum Committee of the Royal College of Nursing and  is a  Member of the British Gynae oncological Cancer Society, British Menopause Society and  Kenyan Nurses &Midwives Association UK.

Catherine Lawlor

Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Academic Tutor

South East London Training Hub Director at The Good Practitioner - Education and Training

Ren Lawlor is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Independent Prescriber in London and the south east. She currently works as the academic tutor and advanced practice lead for the South East London Training Hub and is a visiting lecturer for various universities including the University of Greenwich. Ren has a special interest in respiratory disease in primary care and is the vice chair for executive committee, and the chair for the education committee for the Primary Care Respiratory Society (PCRS-UK). Ren is the founder and director of The Good Practitioner - Education and Training.

Jane is an experienced Consultant Respiratory Nurse formerly working at the University Hospitals of Leicester and now working independently, and also as an Associate Expert Witness. She is also the Education Lead for the UK Inhaler Group and passionate about all things respiratory.

Julie Van Onselen

Dermatology Lecturer Practitioner

Julie is a Dermatology Lecturer Practitioner; with 30 years’ experience as a dermatology clinical nurse specialist, in primary and secondary care. Julie works for skin support groups, including the National Eczema Society complex helpline. Julie is a health care writer and past editor of the BDNG Journal, Dermatological Nursing. She is a PCDS committee member, teaching HCPs and working on service development projects UK-wide. She works clinically at SkinHealthUK in skin cancer detection clinics. Julie is passionate about improving care for people with skin conditions through developing educational initiatives for both healthcare professionals and patients throughout the UK.

Professor Ian Peate OBE FRCN

Visiting Professor

Professor Ian Peate is a prominent figure in the fields of nursing and health care, he is Editor-in-Chief, British Journal of Nursing, Founding Consultant Editor Journal of Paramedic Practice and Consultant Editor International Journal for Advancing Practice. He was Consultant Editor Journal of Operating Department Practitioners. He is a respected nurse academic, author and editor with extensive experience in education and practice. Ian has authored and edited numerous textbooks and articles on nursing and health care, contributing significantly to the literature. His career has spanned various roles, including clinical nursing, nursing education and leadership positions. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of nursing and was awarded an OBE for his services to Nursing and Nurse Education.
